Hanging With Cheryl Dunn: Part 3
"I have furnished whole apartments from street finds in the past" says Cheryl Dunn who lives deep in New York’s East Village on Avenue D — "the D-zone keeps it real" she jokes.
"This piece was so amazing. It’s an old school desk with lots of initials carved into it and a big USA. It’s a bench, and then there’s a desk… [MORE] for the row behind. There are pencil slots in the wood, the seat flips up. It has cast iron legs and fits perfectly in the foyer space."
After spotting it on the block, Cheryl dragged the desk to her rooftop, zapped it with hardcore bug killer, and sealed it in plastic for over a week in the cold. A note to vintage collectors: always disinfect street finds for bed bugs.
The result? A beautiful home edition with soul.
