Just Peachy

Belgium-born designer Niels Peeraer is the master of translating feminine delicacy and a soft palate into strong, firm structures. His handbags and accessories are stiff and sculptural, made out of vegetable-tanned bridle leather and shaped into uncommon forms. Each piece possesses both beauty and wit — a vital combination in fashion. As you can see in his SS13 lookbook modeled by a lithe gentleman in white underwear, Peeraer is playful in the best of ways.

I Spy: Tapestry Handbags

Though it’s really not fair to be posting this picture with summer so far away, we just couldn’t resist pointing out the tapestry purse cameo in this adorable picture. Per our usual, we did come digging around on eBay and found a very cool vintage clutch in mustard, as well as this floral needlepoint purse.

And the award goes to… emerald! Pantone, the global authority on color, just awarded this rich gemstone shade the honor of 2013’s Color of the Year, following last year’s deliciously bright choice, Tangerine Tango. Luxe and luscious, emerald is a color that can be easily incorporated into any wardrobe or home décor. It’s notoriously flattering, complementary to most skin tones, a fact that has not slipped past the design house, Alexander McQueen, who is using emerald quite liberally as of late. In the home, emerald imbues spaces with the academic intelligence of a well-stocked library or the rich comfort of a smoking room. Wear it on your fingernails, dangle it from your ears, hang it from the dining room ceiling — whatever you decide to do with emerald this coming year, you won’t go wrong. And the next time you’re scouring eBay for some fashion finds, don’t forget to add the word “emerald” to your search query to go green in 2013.
