Jose Parla Prepares…
Last December, The Inside Source celebrated artist Jose Parla’s art installation, Cafe Neptuncito, at Art Basel with a “friends & family” lunch at The Standard Miami. That same week in Miami, Jose Parla and French artist JR, released their book, Wrinkles of the City.
Here is a candid photo of Parla in New York this week taken by AnnStreetStudio as he prepares for an upcoming show this Tuesday (May 7th to July 12) at the Bryce Wolkowitz gallery. Ann’s interview here. The exhibit features recreations from the Wrinkles of the City project originally displayed on buildings in Cuba. For more information, visit BryceWolkowitz.com. You might want to begin grabbing some Jose Parla collectibles on eBay first before attending this anticipated show.

An Education on Hip Hop

Artist Jay Shells loves hip hop. Meticulously listening to rap lyrics containing geographic points in New York, Jay makes it his duty create and post the relative words to it’s corresponding block. For the rest of New Yorker’s (or visitors) this converts New York streets into a sort of museum of the genre paying homage to names such as Kanye, Jay-Z, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, and Mos Def. You can see his process here in this video.

Insta-Peep-O-Gram: Most Peculiar

New York-based filmmaker Jenna Elizabeth’s work has been published everywhere from Vogue Italia to Bullett. Her Instagram feed serves as a look into the mind of a creative person with a quirky sense of humor. It’s an unexpected and eclectic mix, full of film references, works of art, and the occasional shot from the runway sidelines.

Donna Karan: Sharp Hair for Sharp Looks
Here’s a very sculptural hair inspiration found backstage at the Donna Karan show this past New York Fashion Week. The hair perfectly complimented the sleek black and tans displayed on the runway, seen here.

eBay Search Alert: Stella McCartney Ankle Boots
To all the women who braved Blizzard Nemo in New York… we’d like to share these angular ankle boots by Stella McCartney. The best part? It’s platformed with a biodegradable rubber sole and faux leather to keep up with the designer’s “be kind to animals” philosophy. The shoes can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue or you can download the eBay Now app (for the NYC area only) and try to get these shoes delivered to your home in less than an hour. To check out more Stella McCartney booties on eBay, click here.

“That” Kate Moss Photo
Behold the iconic Supreme ad with Kate Moss, probably one of the most Instagrammed images of 2012. Last month, British GQ called Supreme “the coolest streetwear brand in the world right now.” Read the very recent New York Times article, “The Story of Supreme,” to get the backstory. You can find vintage Supreme on eBay, but to get the new winter stuff, go to the original source at SupremeNewYork.com.

A Cool 20 Year Old

By Jauretsi

Sometimes it’s nice to just see a girl know her tech. Meet Nadine, the girl who takes care of all the lighting and sound system in New York’s very prestigious Le Bain. She’s born and raised in New York (growing up in a DJ booth) thanks to her creative parents. The Standard Culture made this nice little intro piece on the girl who tends the disco ball.
