The Concrete Jungle

It’s remarkable when a person can make a home that looks a bit like the inside of a parking garage feel like a place you’d want to live in. Berlin-based architect Arno Brandlhuber has managed to work out an aesthetic within his home/office that involves haphazardly thrown rugs, deep leather sofas, and a whole lot of books. We think Brandlhuber would approve of this midcentury sofa we found on eBay, as well as these books on modern architecture.

The Barcelona Couch Simple and sturdy, the Barcelona Couch is the perfect answer to a piece of lounge-about furniture that doesn’t shout for space. Originally designed in 1930 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, it has been replicated by nearly everyone at a variety of price points. Good thing eBay’s got them by the boatloads. Insta-Peep-o-Gram: Karla Covavilla Natalia Vodianova really makes a room, doesn’t she? While coming across a print like this for your living room might be a task of sorts, this amazing floor lamp shouldn’t be a problem. We found a midcentury eyeball orb on eBay, a Cedric Hartman lamp, as well as a Castiglioni Arco floor lamp, which is about as close as you can come to the one seen here.
