In Development: Jen Dau
So you thought those modeling schools and “training programs” were bogus? So did we! That was until we read that the beautiful Jen Dau, recently signed as a new face at New York Models, is a graduate of Barbizon (yes, the same Barbizon you’ve heard of since you were a kid). With the recent — and well-deserved — explosion of Asian models over the last few years, we expect Jen Dau will follow in the footsteps of Xiao Wen Ju, Sui He, and Soo Joo Park, each carving out their own path in the competitive world of high fashion.

In Development: Nadine Martin
Currently represented by The Society Management in New York and Elite Models in London, Nadine Martin (referred to by the agency as simply “Nadine”) is a 17-year-old British beauty with staying power. The fact that this high schooler is still boldly sporting braces (adorably captured in a recent editorial in The Gentlewoman) makes her even more endearing. We love a girl with confidence and a sense of humor. Being drop dead gorgeous is just the icing on the cake.

Brave New World

Welcome to the new age of the modeling industry. Elite, one of the biggest names in fashion since being founded by John Casablancas and Alain Kittler in 1972, has added a new company to their repertoire: The Society Management. Focusing on social media and branding with an eye toward longevity, Society is looking to groom girls with supermodel staying power — something we haven’t really seen since the days of Campbell, Evangelista, and Turlington, with the more recent exception of Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen, of course. Just take one look at their homepage, which is a swarming mass of model GIFs, and you’ll see what we’re talking about.

In Development: Sofia Fisher
This British-born model, currently repped by DNA in New York, has been in the game for a few years already, but she certainly started off on the right foot, walking the runways for Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Louis Vuitton. Fisher’s luscious pout is in good company: she joins the ranks of fellow pillow-lipped beauties Hailey Clauson and Ashley Smith, both of whom really made their modeling mark in the last two yeras. Let’s see if Miss Fisher can make a similar impact on the fashion world.

Hardy Boys
At the ripe old age of 25, Sir Edwin Hardy Amies found himself — by way of his mother’s connections in the London fashion scene — forging quite the career as a master tailor and designer, dressing everyone from the gents of Savile Row to Queen Elizabeth II herself. He was an icon and an innovator, commissioned for projects ranging from outfitting the British ‘72 Olympic squad, as well as designing the costumes in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. The brand’s heritage is a thick thread woven throughout, but that hasn’t prevented them from keeping up with the times. The company, under the creative direction of Claire Malcolm as of 2010, is as hip as ever. Want a piece of the legacy? See what eBay has by clicking here. Ladies, this a strong gift for any boyfriend!

Model Moment: Sam Rollinson
Last season it seemed there wasn’t a runway show British beauty Sam Rollinson wasn’t in. All told, she clocked in at 62, including Valentino, Saint Laurent, and Stella McCartney. Her massive show presence is a sign of big things to come. Right now, she’s only got one campaign for Balenciaga under her belt, but we suspect that’s going to change, especially since Rollinson recently switched from New York Models to Women Management, who will certainly be pouring their efforts into her promising career.

Atmospheric

There’s nothing quite like being at a runway show. The cameras flashing, the music that rattles the walls, the beautiful people in beautiful clothes — it really is a sight to be seen. For those of us who can’t make the fashion circuit, there are photographers who do a pretty bang-up job making sure we feel like we’re there. Style.com has picked their favorite “atmospheric” shots from last season. You can check them all out here.

I Spy: Miu Miu Heels

Do you ever wish you snapped up that pair of designer heels you fell in love with four seasons ago but never got around to purchasing? If the regret still lingers, eBay is an amazing place to hunt down some oldies-but-goodies. Take, for instance, these Miu Miu heels spotted in a Spring/Summer 2010 shoot by Paolo Roversi. You’d be wise to comb through eBay’s selection of the brand to see if you can score a pair.

Model Moment: Meg Collison
We expressed our love for model-of-the-moment Meg Collison back in October after clueing into her exquisite Instagram feed (still a must-follow, in our opinion). This shot was taken backstage at Roberto Cavali. Note the oversized accessories. It might be time to start scrolling through eBay for chunky floral necklaces, don’t you think?
