First seen set against blue icebergs around the neck of model Werner Schreyer in Louis Vuitton’s 2012 Autumn/ Winter campaign, the camel and charcoal pattern in this gorgeous scarf (seen above) immediately communicated a sense of absolute luxury that the brand is known for. It’s subtle, yet signature. If you’re looking for something a little more traditionally flash, eBay has a few wool scarf options to check out here.

Just to step up your Hemingway hand, Louis Vuitton has freshly announced an expanded range of writing instruments, such as these glossy alligator leather pens (seen above, $2,220). You’ll have to wait until December 13th to see the whole collection revealed to WWD. Some of the products, which took two years to develop, are said to introduce new patented innovations for pens since 1953. The collection will find a retail home inside what is called “Louis Vuitton’s Writing Room” (or “Le Cabinet d’Ecriture Louis Vuitton”, which sounds infinitely more chic). The temporary boutique is located at 6 Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris. Mark those calendars to spoil your luxury friend this Christmas.

What’s new Pussycat? After years of designers churning out sky-high platforms, it’s time we consider the kitten heel, a shoe previously reserved for sensible business women and grandmothers. This season we’ve seen a healthy range of heel heights. For those dedicated to their five-inch stilettos, there were still plenty of those, don’t worry. I did notice however that the modest and foot-friendly kitten heel has been embraced by everyone from Louis Vuitton to Lanvin. eBay has a few selections from Lanvin to LV to get you started on the sophisticated low riders. Isabel Marant’s studded, rocker chic sandals (pictured above) are actually rock concert friendly. Now that’s a first.

With London Fashion Week upon us, The Inside Source turns its attention to the iconic fashion haven Selfridges. To celebrate the launch of its most significant global artistic collaboration to date, Louis Vuitton unveiled an extraordinary take-over of both Selfridges’ legendary windows and its ever-changing Wonder Room. An unprecedented 24-window design, the Concept Store as well as a Giant Yayoi Kusama Statue announce the collaboration between Louis Vuitton, the illustrious Japanese artist, and Selfridges. Also, for a more playful peak into the cavernous creative brain of this collaboration between Vuitton, Kusama & Selfridges, take a peek at the two playful short films entitled “Spot the Difference” starring the fashion blogger and style icon, Bip Ling. Branded content can sometimes feel so forced. Then other times, you bump into a video like this, and have an honest artistic moment. The short film “Dream” has Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) reciting some richly inspired poetry in homage to Muhammad Ali. Graphic designer Niels Shoe Meulman paints calligraphy in this spot directed by Stuart A. McIntyre. All paid for by Louis Vuitton, one of our favorite designers swimming around in the eBay closet (jump on these handbags while they’re available).
Three more of the campaign videos are expected to be released with striking titles — “Word”, “Life”, and “Float”, with a special “Ali” painted by Meulman. It’s official, LV just “one-upped” Versace’s booking of Lil Kim.
