Insta-Peep-O-Gram: Marissa Kaiser

Brooklyn-based photographer Marissa Kaiser’s moody, narrative-rich work can be found in the pages of Oyster Magazine and Vice. She’s worked for massive companies like ESPN and Nike, as well as Adidas. Kaiser’s even been known to roam film sets taking stills (have you seen Thumbsucker yet?). And you, my lucky friends, can find her more candid snaps on Instagram. Follow this talented and dynamic young woman for a personal look into the life of a photographer.

Sweet Death
Nothing sweetens up a skull like a coat of paint and a halo of fake flowers. Thanks to Amanda Lipke for showing us that death doesn’t need to be morbid; it just needs to be spruced up a bit. To replicate this look at home, check out eBay’s selection of deer skulls here. The rest is up to you.

Coming Up Roses

Artist Valeria Alevra’s Paper Collages series circa 2009 is an explosive marriage of monochrome interiors and vibrant layers of flora and fauna. Roses spill from the ceiling, carpets are replaced with grass. The work is otherworldly and beautiful… and really makes us want to pull out the scissors and decoupage.
