David Bailey
Since the beginning of his career in the early ’60s, British photographer David Bailey has been considered one of the best in the business, shooting everyone from Sir Michael Caine to The Beatles to Mick Jagger. His work was so impressive, in fact, he was contracted by Vogue at the ripe old age of 23. Though he is best known for his work capturing “swinging London” at its height, as well as his countless images of model Jean Shrimpton, Bailey is still around today, shooting for the likes of i-D Magazine and GQ.

For Love of Lace
There’s nothing better than a delicate bra made out of beautiful lace. For the ladies who don’t need much support, a triangle bralet will certainly do the job. One of our favorite brands for those with smaller busts is Eberjey, which uses great qualities of lace without costing an arm and a leg. We’re fans of looking for past seasons on eBay. Something to keep in mind when buying intimates online: make sure that the items are NWT (new with tags).

Insta-Peep-O-Gram: Colin Leaman

Photographers, when they’re doing it right, should be storytellers. Such is the case for Colin Leaman, a Philly-based photographer whose work takes a quirky, observational distance from his subjects, a style that has earned his photography a place in Oyster Magazine. Similar in tone to his professional work but a little more casual, Leaman’s Instagram feed is a never-ending stream of pretty girls and equally pretty locations, mixed in with regular life back home. A must-follow, in our humble opinion.

In Development: Nadine Martin
Currently represented by The Society Management in New York and Elite Models in London, Nadine Martin (referred to by the agency as simply “Nadine”) is a 17-year-old British beauty with staying power. The fact that this high schooler is still boldly sporting braces (adorably captured in a recent editorial in The Gentlewoman) makes her even more endearing. We love a girl with confidence and a sense of humor. Being drop dead gorgeous is just the icing on the cake.

Sentimental Value: Mens Fishnet Bikini Undies
“I bought them thinking they were women’s and didn’t realize they were mens until I put them on my mannequin and I could NOT for the life of me figure out why they were not fitting right! Here I had them on backwards AND I had the “manly” part in back. OOPS!” — (eBay Seller, Miss candy-land, May 29, 2010)

Frieze Frame
The Frieze Art Fair kicked off May 10th, forcing many a New Yorker onto ferries bound for Randall’s Island. The quality and quantity of work was almost overwhelming to take in over the course of the day, but we really thought this piece by artist Billy Sullivan stood out. Having painted since the ’60s, Sullivan’s work has often focused on the colorful and flashy characters of the art, fashion, and entertainment worlds. By employing bright colors in his paintings, Sullivan makes sure to “gild the lily,” so to speak.

A Different Animale
Looking for a new swimsuit that is a little bit scandalous, totally unique, and potentially hazardous when it comes to bad tan lines? Minimale Animale is your best bet. Started in 2011 by stylist-turned-designer Cassandra Kellogg, the line favors untraditional elements not often seen in even the sexiest suits: zippers, multi-layers, even those nearly iconic barely-there palm tree cut-outs. Feeling adventurous? eBay has a seller who is listing multiple pieces right now.

Grab the Gloss
While you might not go for the technicolor pout featured here, it’s not a bad idea to pump up the gloss over the shade of your choice. When colored or tinted gloss can’t provide the strong pigment we’re after, a couple of us at The Inside Source have been known to lay down a matte foundation and then douse those lips in a favorite gloss. So what’s on our list when it comes to lips? MAC’s Clear Gloss is a perennial favorite, as is Smashbox’s O-Intuitive Lip Gloss. And you’re in luck; you can find it all on eBay… for less.

Brave New World

Welcome to the new age of the modeling industry. Elite, one of the biggest names in fashion since being founded by John Casablancas and Alain Kittler in 1972, has added a new company to their repertoire: The Society Management. Focusing on social media and branding with an eye toward longevity, Society is looking to groom girls with supermodel staying power — something we haven’t really seen since the days of Campbell, Evangelista, and Turlington, with the more recent exception of Kate Moss and Gisele Bundchen, of course. Just take one look at their homepage, which is a swarming mass of model GIFs, and you’ll see what we’re talking about.
