Herman Miller

respected manufacturer of office and home furniture, Herman Miller’s midcentury pieces were incredibly graphic and colorful. If you’re inspired by the promotional Herman Miller poster (seen above), be sure to check out the varied selection of Herman Miller posters currently available on eBay. If you want to take it one step further, bring home one of Miller’s furniture pieces — also found on eBay, of course.

I Spy: Pedro Friedeberg
Best known for his “hand chair” (seen above right), Mexican designer and artist Pedro Friedeberg is a master at incorporating surrealist principles with functional design. In fact, along with Frida Kahlo, the two were the only Mexican artists recognized by Andre Breton as members of the Surrealist movement. It’s amazing to us that you can actually find these chairs on eBay, believe it or not. For just $4,400, you can scoop up a pair. If that’s too rich for your blood, there’s some amazing lithographs for you to sift through. And remember, if you plan on buying, make sure to ask the seller if it’s signed. You can read Friedeberg’s own efforts against fakes here.

Philippe Starck Chairs
We think these sturdy Philippe Starck chairs look good in almost any office, home, or kitchen — be it modern or rustic. Luckily, we spotted a few of these chairs on eBay so you can provide your own unique environment for these versatile chairs to live in. The clear factor almost makes them chameleons pieces.

Operation: Sputnik
The iconic Sputnik chandelier’s starburst of light and metal has been a midcentury design mainstay since its creation in the late 1950s. After the launch of the Soviet Union’s Sputnik satellite in 1957 and, subsequently, the development of NASA program in the US, the influence of space became far-reaching, touching everything from car design to home interiors. The perfect example of this is the Sputnik chandelier. Its style has been recreated by contemporary furniture companies such as Design Within Reach. But for those who want the real deal, eBay has an abundance of Sputnik chandeliers in various sizes and shades. Check them out here.

Springbok Chairs
By Jauretsi
I’m loving these animal chairs currently available at anthropologie.com (via beatpie's Tumblr). The seemingly looking deer creatures possessed horns instead, which made me curious, what the hell is a Springbok? It turns out, the animal is a gazelle and mostly inhabits Southwestern Africa. We're not sure why Anthropologie singled out this one creature of the wild, but we're happy they made this adorable chair.

A Touch of Blue
By Jenny Bahn
Once again, here’s an otherwise white space featuring splashes of color applied with restraint — a little blue here, a little seafoam green there. I’m especially fond of the cobalt chair and sofa. The hints of bold color in this abode make the space seem less washed-out, anchoring the room with some solid saturation. I found a similar chair on eBay with a richer tone of blue and a handy matching ottoman… just in case you were looking.
