With their signature rubber sole and thick stitching, the boots are one of the most recognizable in the history of kicks. Ultimately, the design of new Docs hasn’t changed much, with the company opting to stay true to their wheelhouse while adding some contemporary selections to the board. If you’ve held onto your pair from high school, pull them back out. And if they’re not your style anymore, keep in mind there’s a market on eBay just chomping at the bit to buy them.

Pantone, the global authority on color, just awarded this rich gemstone shade the honor of 2013’s Color of the Year, following last year’s deliciously bright choice, Tangerine Tango. Luxe and luscious, emerald is a color that can be easily incorporated into any wardrobe or home décor. It’s notoriously flattering, complementary to most skin tones, a fact that has not slipped past the design house, Alexander McQueen, who is using emerald quite liberally as of late. In the home, emerald imbues spaces with the academic intelligence of a well-stocked library or the rich comfort of a smoking room. Wear it on your fingernails, dangle it from your ears, hang it from the dining room ceiling — whatever you decide to do with emerald this coming year, you won’t go wrong. And the next time you’re scouring eBay for some fashion finds, don’t forget to add the word “emerald” to your search query to go green in 2013.

We think foxy girls can wear anything and get away with it. For those women bracing themselves for winter, we suggest investing in a reliable pair of construction boots. Companies like Caterpillar (who create heavy machinery) provide true cred in the shoes department. Their boots, available on eBay, can also be a brilliant asset on those snow covered mountain hikes. Another brand at the same level are the traditional Timberland Boots, also found on eBay, which can be paired with the right black quilted winter jacket for that cool rough outdoorsy sensibility. Strength in clothes means strength of character.
