Photographer Brittany Hildebrandt’s work has that very “now” feeling to it. Through her lens, we get to partake in her small, sweet observations — flowers at springtime, feet standing in snow, countless cups of coffee. It’s the beginning of May and luckily for us, springtime is here (for New Yorkers, at least). With the nice weather comes a little less clothing, so go ahead and stash your winter layers for next year. But most importantly, it’s time to bring out the bikes. Today, walking in SoHo, we spotted this black city bike with fluorescent green accents. Vintage bikes don’t necessarily need to come with a hefty price tag, and after scouring eBay, we realized that the proof is certainly in the pudding.

At the ripe old age of 25, Sir Edwin Hardy Amies found himself — by way of his mother’s connections in the London fashion scene — forging quite the career as a master tailor and designer, dressing everyone from the gents of Savile Row to Queen Elizabeth II herself. He was an icon and an innovator, commissioned for projects ranging from outfitting the British ‘72 Olympic squad, as well as designing the costumes in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. The brand’s heritage is a thick thread woven throughout, but that hasn’t prevented them from keeping up with the times. Set high above an urban landscape, this office, with its pitched ceiling and exposed beams, feels like a cabin in the sky. Even the patterned carpet is reminiscent of water ripples or windswept sand dunes. And it’s not just the big things adding to the woodsy sentiment here; it’s the little ones, too. The bike imbues the space with an eco-friendly vibe, as do the hanging plants near the back.
