Just Peachy
Belgium-born designer Niels Peeraer is the master of translating feminine delicacy and a soft palate into strong, firm structures. His handbags and accessories are stiff and sculptural, made out of vegetable-tanned bridle leather and shaped into uncommon forms. Each piece possesses both beauty and wit — a vital combination in fashion. As you can see in his SS13 lookbook modeled by a lithe gentleman in white underwear, Peeraer is playful in the best of ways.

Stellar
Stella McCartney turns things up a notch with these futuristic mirrored shades. The green lenses paired with the classic tortoiseshell frames make for an unexpected combo that, in theory, seems a little over the top. In practice, they’re just kind of amazing.

Insta-Peep-o-Gram: Come Fly with Meg
By Jenny Bahn
If you want to see what’s going on backstage and behind the scenes in the fashion industry, follow a model on Instagram. Dressed up for work or dressed down for play, the women with a good sense of style can provide a really inspired look into their role within the industry. My current favorite is Meghan Collison. She’s been around since SS08, but is really hitting her stride now, walking this past season for the likes of Miu Miu, Chanel, and Valentino, to name a few. In addition to catwalks, it’s her journey in between these gigs that I find most interesting. It’s a charming documentation of a model on the rise: traveling, meeting people, and, yes, even washing her cat.
To follow Meghan on Instagram, her handle is @omgitsmeg.

Crazy for Cara

By Jenny Bahn

Walking down the catwalk, model Cara Delevinge is all cheekbones, brows, and a pronounced pout. It’s the face that made her a Spring 2013 regular at every fashion week around the world: Marc Jacobs in New York, Burberry in London, Fendi in Milan, Rochas in Paris. But it’s what we’ve seen off-stage, that’s made us fall in love with Cara. She’s always mugging for the camera, never afraid to sacrifice a precious beauty shot for some fashion fun. J’adore, Cara. Can’t wait to see more of you and, more importantly, your personality in the years to come.

The Blood Drip at Prabal Gurung
By Jenny Bahn
Prabal Gurung is anything but shy when it comes to choosing the beauty directive each season. Without fail, you can count on Gurung and his talented team of hair and makeup artists to make innovative, bold choices that expertly compliment the collection, turning a strong lip into as important a statement as a shoe or a handbag. Remember Spring 2012’s “blooming rose” mouth? Fall’s iridescent eye? This season, Gurung’s show-stoppers were flaunted on the fingertips. Manicurist Tracylee Percival created a gorgeously haunting nail that gave the appearance of dripping blood.
