Polaroids by Curtis Kulig

It seems artist Curtis Kulig, notorious for his ubiquitous “Love Me” tag, has one more fetish in addition to painting all over the world — Polaroids. Here’s just a tiny spattering of friends who’ve rolled through his New York studio. To see the vast collection, visit his Polaroid gallery

Mission Impossible
By Sade Lythcott
The Impossible Project (previously credited as changing the plight of Polaroid) has announced their latest venture: Instant Lab.
Designed to seamlessly connect analog and digital worlds, Instant Lab transforms your digital images into the real deal, with the convenience and immediacy of a Polaroid camera. The Lab features an iPhone cradle and a specialized lens that focuses the phone’s Retina display. The base then exposes the film and, just like a Polaroid camera, produces the photo.
The Impossible crew set out to make this dream a reality by starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise $250,000. During their month-long quest for cash, they actually raised more than twice their goal. Thanks to a group of loyal fans and generous donors, everyone will get to benefit from Instant Lab when it hits the market in early 2013.

Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s Massive Polaroid Collection

By Jauretsi

For all art enthusiasts, last week was the first time Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s Polaroid collection was featured in Europe. The exhibit was held at the prestigious Art Basel 2012 in Switzerland, the world’s premier international art show for Modern and contemporary works. The collection was first presented in New York in 2009 at David Zwirner gallery. The New York Times described the effect as “magical and mundane”. Philip-Lorca was in attendance at Art Basel to receive an award before this collection tours to China next.

The show, entitled Thousand, consists of 1,000 Polaroids taken by diCorcia over the course of almost twenty-five years. If you don’t have any Philip-Lorca’s past Monographs, Books, or Catalogs on your coffee table, I suggest you snag one today on eBay. If you want to take a crack at shooting Polaroids yourself, eBay has a plethora of Polaroid cameras available to begin your own exhibition.
