Tonight. Good Party. Good Cause.
Thank God its Friday! For all The Inside Source readers in New York, here’s an event we recommend to come and support. For starters, it’s hosted by previous babes we’ve filed under “Mad Respect” — DJ Mia Moretti and Cleo Wade, with violinist extraordinaire, Margot.
The creative women put their heads together recently and called all their friends and asked them one word… their favorite word, actually. Folks from Questlove to Katy Perry pitched in. Painter Cleo Wade masterminded painting interpretations of these words. The mission? 25 words. 25 paintings. 1 Goal. All proceeds of the artwork will go directly to 3villages1goal.org, supporting relief efforts in Philippines.
Quick, clever, effective, and a rad party to attend tonight in New York. Friday, November 22nd, at No.8 located at 357 W. 16th St from 8-10pm. RSVP to ideason8.com

Mad Respect: Mia Moretti
Music is what makes the world go ‘round for DJ Mia Moretti. In the sea of “boys club” DJs, New York-based Mia holds her own and brings the skills to the tables. Sought after for spinning international high-fashion parties (think Lanvin to Versace), she’s equally in demand for front row seating at Fashion Week. You can also see her lending sage advice to newbies on VH1’s Master of the Mix.
Amid all the globe-trotting, Mia’s true passion project lies within the basements of her recording studio, with a new album just released with fellow music mate, Margot (aka Caitlin Moe). Summer is wonderfully hectic for Miss Moretti, yet she kindly took a few moments to share some inspiration with The Inside Source.

Jauretsi: What is your manifesto for life?
Mia Moretti: My dad had this on the wall in his office, and it wasn’t until recently that I found out it was a Dr. Suess quote. Nonetheless, it’s always been my philosophy for getting through the day: “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

J: Tell us your top three items you fiend for when searching through eBay?
MM: 1) Vintage kimonos, 2) 90’s Steve Madden platform boots, 3) Lots of costume jewelry

J: Name your summer Inspiration song for these coming months.
MM: Margot and I just released our first original track as The Dolls called “Summer of ‘93.” It’s an ode to bygone summers and lost love. You can listen or download "Summer of ‘93" on Soundcloud.

Art Basel Garb: Cleo Wade & Mia Moretti
By Jauretsi
The Inside Source caught up with New York sweethearts Cleo Wade of Alice + Olivia and DJ maestro Mia Moretti who attended Art Basel 2012 to spin for Harper’s Bazaar, Scope’s kick-off party, Architectural Digest, and Galore Magazine.
Cleo Wade, a stylist at heart, tells me she searches eBay for hard-to-find vintage. “I’m always searching for vintage kimonos” says the New Orleans-born lady. Here she’s rocking an Alice + Olivia dress with a vintage kimono. Coincidentally, Cleo is wearing a design by Mia, the “Mia Moretti for Pency” scarf with shoes by Alberta Ferretti. Mia wears… [MORE] the same designer top and pants — Joy Cioci. Mixed up with those Ferragamo shoes, Chanel cuff and vintage bag, and voila, you’ve got two foxy ladies hitting Art Basel in style.
Cleo suggests you know your size and best designer before doing the online hunt. After that, hunting eBay is a cinch. “For example” she adds, “this Alice and Olivia dress I’m wearing in the picture, I’m always the same size in AO and the fit is always perfect so it makes online shopping way less stressful.” Her other search item is costume jewelry. “eBay is great for finding statement pieces that can take your going-out look to the next level.” Another eBay temptation of the style maven? “Finding old records and vintage furniture,” she says with an exclamation.

Girls on the Decks

Fashion Week came out of the gates strong with “Fashion Night Out” on Thursday night. We spotted a few rad girls manning the music with their own unique styles including Solange Knowles (for Coach), Mia Moretti (for Calvin Klein Collection), and Icona Pop for Helmut Lang. Keep rocking, ladies! — Jauretsi
