The Beauty Bin

Allure has won a reputation for lists of the best beauty products on the market. The good news? You can find them on eBay… for less. As a girl who bleaches her hair within an inch of its life, I’m always looking for products that moisturize and tame the frizz. Allure has a ton of suggestions for 2012, some of which I already own. Kerastase makes wonderful products. Their shampoos and conditioners never fail me. Allure recommends the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oleo Comlex, which you can nab on eBay for $45 here. Then there’s the Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream that you can grab for a deal. Last, but not least, Moroccan Oil. I’m a huge fan of their products — the smell and, especially, the results. Allure recommends trying their Curl Defining Cream, which you can also find on eBay for less than you can buy at the store.

There’s no better way to score a backstage pass to New York Fashion Week than to follow the insiders on Instagram. Consider it full access to scenes of hair and makeup teams buzzing around models, empty runway venues waiting for throngs of attendees, and quick snaps of oddities.

Back in the days, we had to wait months for this content. Now, the access and availability is immediate and unprecedented. When executed right, the app can perfectly communicate the frantic energy, fabulous parties, and real artistry the fashion industry is capable of. We’ve selected some of our favorites so far. If you don’t have an iPhone, fear not, you can follow these fashion feeds on your computer via Statigram.

If you want a one-stop shop for all things fashion week, photographer Bryant Eslava has you covered. Runway, backstage, street style, after-parties. It seems like there is no place Eslava isn’t right now. — Click here for Bryant Eslava’s Statigram feed.

(Designer, Peter Som @peter_som)

More people should be following Peter Som’s Instagram. It’s a beautifully curated view of a designer’s life. The designer has an eye for the abstract.. he’s rarely one to take a straightforward, predictable picture. — Click here for Peter Som’s Statigram feed.

(Photographer, Jhon Santos @jhondka)

Though sometimes he can be a little overzealous with his number of posts in a row (Instagram etiquette, people!), Santos has good sense of tone and a knack for detail. I’ve particularly enjoyed his attention to prints and accessories, especially when it comes to menswear. — Click here for Jhon Santos’ Statigram thread.

(Designer, Helmut Lang @helmutlang)

As big name designers go, Helmut Lang’s Instagram feels well curated and personal, filled with some good snaps from last week’s show. — Click here for Helmut Lang’s Statigram feed.

(Stylist, Tom Van Dorpe @tom_van_dorpe)

Tom Van Dorpe is a favorite of mine, “on season” and off. An extremely talented stylist very much on the rise, Van Dorpe’s work can be found in the pages of V Magazine, V Man, and beyond. Follow him year-round for his behind-the-scene viewpoint on photo shoots, inspiration images, published work, and envy-inducing trots around the globe. — Click here for Tom Van Dorpe’s Statigram feed.

(Hair Stylist Team, Kerastase USA @kerastaseusa)

Beautiful girls and beautiful hair. Kerastase brings you the whole backstage experience, with updates throughout the day. So far this season they’ve sprayed, sculpted, and slicked for the likes of Thakoon, Monique Lhullier, Jil Stuart, Suno, and Jason Wu. We can’t wait to see what they’re up to this week. — Click here for Kerastase’s Statigram feed.

(Fashion Director and Stylist, Anya Ziourova @anyaziourova)

Anya Ziourova makes you feel like you’re part of her journey as a stylist on the go. There are candid pictures with chic friends, coverage from the front row, and a healthy dedication to statement-piece accessories. — Click here for Anya Ziorova’s Statigram feed.
