Insta-Peep-O-Gram: The Modern Surrealist

For artist (and exceptionally savvy Instagrammer) Nyssa, subtlety and surrealism are the rule. For those who like the more heavy-handed approach to documenting one’s life, this might not be the feed for you. But for all you readers out there who understand the value of delicate, childlike drawings mixed in with photos of the seemingly mundane, you’ll love what Nyssa has in store. It’s a softer take on life, and we think it’s rather wonderful.

Insta-Peep-O-Gram: Coachella

Off the runway, models Hanne Gaby Odiele, Alana Zimmer, Kasia Struss, and Jacquelyn Jablonski are thick as thieves, running around the streets of New York and Paris and living the life of your average, gorgeous supermodel. This year, they made the trip out to Coachella and we followed the foursome via Instagram for a journey of music and, seemingly more importantly these days, fashion. Make sure to put these girls on your follow list for future model-off-duty group activities of the very fab variety.

Happy Birthday, Marc Jacobs!

Marc Jacobs has done a lot of living over the course of fifty years, and we can certainly say that he only looks better and becomes more successful with each passing year. To see the impact this man has had on fashion, you need only dive into the massive catalogue of handbags, shoes, sunglasses, and runway hits on eBay. Happy 50th, Mr. Jacobs. Here’s to another twenty years of ingenuity, creativity, and genuine spectacle. We’re glad you were born.

Australian model Codie Young might just be our new favorite redhead. She’s like a more delicate version of Guinevere Van Seenus (whose own career, we might add, has seriously withstood the test of time). We’ve been following Young on Instagram for awhile now and we suggest you do the same. You’ll get a whole lot of cute Polaroids, shots of her own artwork, and snaps of recent editorials she’s appeared in. Keep you eyes on this one. We suspect big things.

Meet Sean Hotchkiss, a former fashion and style writer for GQ (before getting scooped up recently by J. Crew). His Instagram feed is a mix of behind-the-scenes action, global travels, and a few half-eaten donuts for good measure. Unlike our usual roster of must-follow fashion folk, it’s nice to get a man in the mix for a different, more masculine perspective.

“My grandad passed just before Christmas. On Monday they are getting rid of everything in his house… I managed to take a few keepsakes today. A set of dominoes he carved, his old Ray Bans, WW2 medals and a street guide to Birmingham were amongst the treasures,” writes Lauren Sissons. Insta-Peep-O-Gram: Models Off Duty

“Previous to the Internet, models received their booking value through runway, campaigns, and editorials. Now models get their booking value through social media, which combines their street style presence […] with their own social media channels like Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr,” writes Craig Arend, the street style photographer behind Modeloffduty.com. In the post-supermodel era, the idea that models are in charge of their own “brand” is an important one. And with girls like Cara Delevingne amassing nearly one million followers on Instagram these days, clients surely take note.
