I Spy: Candelabra

Okay, maybe we’ve got candelabras on the brain ever since watching Michael Douglas take an epic turn as Liberace in HBO’s Behind the Candelabra. In any case, we’re smitten with the modern, white version seen here. Viewed separately, this space is a strange combination of brick flooring, modern furniture, blue paint, and what appears to be a leather lawn chair, but together, it shines.

I Spy: Flamingo

With summer on the approach, we’re dreaming of white sandy beaches, the shortest of shorts, and anything associated with sunshine. Maybe that’s why we’re seriously crushing on this bit of flamingo wall art. Inspired, we trolled through eBay for all things “pink bird.” You’ve got your flamingo lawn ornaments, shower curtains, and more flamingo printed fabric than you’d know what to do with.

I Spy: Sleigh Bed

The arched wooden frame of a sleigh bed was something a few of us over at The Inside Source were very familiar with growing up. So when we started digging around eBay on the hunt for one, we were surprised to find that sleigh beds are actually rare! What to do in instances such as these? Set up your eBay Feed, which will automatically add your new query to your other coveted items whenever they are put up for sale. Patience is a virtue, friends!

I Spy: Bones

Morbid but beautiful, we are absolutely loving this massive wall of steer and cow skulls spotted on photographer Tyler William Parker’s Instagram feed. The varied shapes and sizes, along with their close placement, lend the wall installation a very herd-like feeling. It might take you awhile, but if you want to start collecting skulls for your own abode, check out the selection of bones on eBay, including these huge steers.

I Spy: NYC Map

Okay, so it doesn’t look like that much actual work happens at this adorable little desk setup, but it does serve as a fine display for some great odds and ends. You’ve got your butterfly collection, a taxidermied bird, a minty vintage lamp, and that large map of New York. We did some digging on eBay and found this map from 1945 in pristine condition, ready for framing and hanging above your own workspace.

I Spy: Pedro Friedeberg

Best known for his “hand chair” (seen above right), Mexican designer and artist Pedro Friedeberg is a master at incorporating surrealist principles with functional design. In fact, along with Frida Kahlo, the two were the only Mexican artists recognized by Andre Breton as members of the Surrealist movement. It’s amazing to us that you can actually find these chairs on eBay, believe it or not. For just $4,400, you can scoop up a pair. If that’s too rich for your blood, there’s some amazing lithographs for you to sift through. And remember, if you plan on buying, make sure to ask the seller if it’s signed. I Spy: Travelin’ Man

We can think of nothing better than traveling through Europe with Mr. Robert Dylan, drinking coffe and eating toast. And we’re loving the masculine, chunky silver ring (seen back right). You’re in luck; eBay has a ton of them.

I Spy: Tapestry Handbags

Though it’s really not fair to be posting this picture with summer so far away, we just couldn’t resist pointing out the tapestry purse cameo in this adorable picture. Per our usual, we did come digging around on eBay and found a very cool vintage clutch in mustard, as well as this floral needlepoint purse.

I Spy: Cuckoo Clocks

Do you see it? Right there? That gorgeous little thing on the wall at the back? We’re talking about the cuckoo clock. Don’t worry; we almost missed it, too. Never before had we thought to incorporate something generally considered to be design-clueless kitsch (inherited from grandma and grandpa, of course) into a clean industrial space. This one, however, has been specially chosen. As cuckoo clocks go, it is dark and minimalist (no little red-hatted gnomes popping out, thank you very much), better accentuating its intricate design features and gothic details. Check out the large cuckoo clocks available on eBay right now. We think it’s about time everyone have one up on their wall.
