Black and Cream

H&M keeps it simple in their latest Spring 2013 look-book, working with interesting silhouettes using predominately black, cream, and splashes of red. The variety in shape and structure is refreshing (though not necessarily new). It’s nice to see a mass retailer willing to experiment with — or “borrow”, some might say — the oversized jackets and thick, embroidered sweaters we’ve seen designers whipping up over the last year or so. We’re excited to see these looks out in stores. One question: Will 2013 be the year we see the return of the bolo tie?

Jail Break
This year is going to see the return of some very bold pattern choices. We’re not just talking about the previously seen maxed-out mashup of acid florals and cheetah prints (thank you, Stella McCartney, we really did love your Resort 2013 collection), but something more simplistic and statement worthy: The stripe. When Marc Jacobs sent Ruby Jean Wilson down the runway wearing only knickers and a striped graphic t-shirt for his Spring 2013 show, he unleashed a monster of pent-up desire for prison chic. Case in point: H&M is already hopping on the bandwagon. Above is one of their “Key Pieces” from the Spring / Summer 2013 lookbook.

eBay Feed: Martin Margiela for H&M

by Jauretsi

Martin Margiela is getting lots of love at this years Art Basel 2012. His collaboration with H&M, which flew off the shelves upon arrival is now worn proudly by cool art chicks around Miami Beach this week. Spotted twice last night, the pieces are in itself, a veritable work of art. If you’re biting your lip frustrated that you missed out on the big sale, you’ll be happy to know that some of the pieces ended up on eBay. These pieces are the perfect items to seed into my eBay Feed. To further understand how to create your own Feed for eBay (customized search wishes on your eBay homepage), take a look at this article.

Either way, eBay’s inventory of Margiela for H&M is something to pilfer into. If you want a cheat-sheet as you type in your search words, visit HighSnobette who posted the full collection online so you can zero in on your favorite piece from this collection.

Bad Girl Beret
By Jauretsi
‘Tis the season to invest in a well-made beret and learn to wear it with a little swagger. If watching Faye Dunaway in Bonnie & Clyde is not inspiration enough, take a look at iconic females Catherine Deneuve and Dita Von Teese wearing these head-toppers with tough girl attitude. Everyone from Sonia Rykiel to H&M has created their own version of the French classic. If you’re looking to sift through various styles and colors, eBay has an array of berets available with bids starting at $7.
