Take My Picture

Here’s a smart look at the phenomenon called “peacocking” at fashion weeks around the world. Dasha Zhukova and Andinh Ha direct this short film for Garage Magazine and enlist fashion giants to comment on the chaos photography. [MORE]

Micro

One of street style photographer Tommy Ton’s strong suits is capturing the looks of fashion’s most stylishly dressed women up close and personal. His lens serves as a microscope of sorts, pulling out the details: the buttery hem of leather pants, the oil-slick iridescent sheen of a futuristic blouse, the spiky detail of a heel. Check out some highlights from this season.

Model Moment: Chloe Norgaard
With her loud sense of style and that sherbet-colored hair, it’s no wonder that Chloe Norgaard is popping up on the runways this season. Waiting backstage, Chloe sports striped pants, a sporty letterman’s jacket, and a killer pair of fingerless skeleton gloves. Surprising even to us, eBay has tons of them.

Home Inspiration: Pink Graffiti
Here’s a simple idea lifted from Kate Spade’s New York Fashion Week presentation with guest Brad Goreski. At Kate Spade’s 20th Anniversary celebration, the white walls were adorned with pink tagging. If you’re inspired by this look, eBay has several pink aerosol spray cans to choose from. If you’re really itchy to do this to your room, like, today, here’s an idea. Search for “pink aerosol” on the eBay now app, and get some cans delivered to your doorstep in less than 1 hour (note: The eBay Now service is only active in New York currently).

MAC for Thom Browne
Okay, so you might not go for the shape of the lips Thom Browne chose for his models this season, but you should certainly go for the color. MAC went with Ruby Woo lipstick, dusted over with Red Pigment to create a hyper-saturated finish. Click through the above links to see what you can score on eBay.

Donna Karan: Sharp Hair for Sharp Looks
Here’s a very sculptural hair inspiration found backstage at the Donna Karan show this past New York Fashion Week. The hair perfectly complimented the sleek black and tans displayed on the runway, seen here.

The Kenzo Sweatshirt… Still Here
Last Fashion Week, we mentioned the coveted item of the moment was the emerald green Kenzo sweatshirt. This past New York Fashion Week, thanks to the folks at what-do-i-wear, we couldn’t help fall inlove with the designers same sweater in pure white. We call it “the blizzard” Kenzo.

Graphic We Love: Jack and Rachel Antonoff
Sketched by a fan of the Antonoff brother/sister duo, Anis admits to drawing this during her history class. Designer Rachel Antonoff, known for her highly creative Fashion Week presentations celebrated her brother’s first Grammy this year as the guitarist for Fun. Count ‘em, six nominations, too! Keep your eyes on these two siblings — many more things to come.

Leandra Medine vs Suzy Menkes
Here’s Leandra Medine (aka the Man Repeller) rocking her golden mustard suit at the Rodarte Fall 2013 show. Her closing essay on Fashion Week (“Blog is a Dirty Word”) presented a very articulate counterpoint to Suzy Menkes’ T Magazine piece, “The Circus of Fashion”. Suzy’s piece received 42 comments whereas Leandra received a whopping 132, but who’s keeping count? The debate about the new army of bloggers and their validity is a powerful one, so give both articles a chance. Lots of truth is expressed in each.
