Mad Respect: Colin Tunstall
If you live in New York and if you surf, surely you’ve kicked your feet up at Saturdays, a boutique-slash-clubhouse-coffeeshop on Crosby street in Soho, New York. Additional spaces include West Village (NYC) and two in Japan. The triumvirate of founders, Colin Tunstall, Josh Rosen, and Morgan Collett, also nurture their love of the ocean through art shows and events at their retail spaces. Their bi-annual magazine, Saturdays, is a visual joy for any surf-phile.
We were thrilled to hear Colin is an avid eBay user. “eBay has been a great easy way to find things” says the creative spirit who refers to the site as a “source of inspiration”. We asked him a few more questions about where his mind wanders online and what tunes make him happy.
Jauretsi: What is your manifesto for life?
Colin Tunstall: “Work hard, play hard” seems fitting but cliché. We all love a good time but also like to get things done. We live in NYC where both are always a priority.
J: Tell us your top 3 list of items you fiend for when searching through eBay?
CT: For me, I alway end up looking for cars… I’ve bought three in the past — a ‘65 Cadillac, ‘70 Cadillac, and a ‘73 Bronco.
Apparel: Finding vintage items that aren’t available in stores anymore.
Books: We’ve been lucky enough to travel around the world a lot lately and find cool different books or magazines. I alway know you can find them on eBay and send them home rather than lugging them around in your suitcase.
J: As the summer closes out, name the songs that have inspired you?
CT: “Dirty Man” - Laura Lee
"Pink Frost" - The Chills
"In The Year 2525" - Zager & Evans
"5th Ave" - Gold Panda
"Crazy Boy" - Street The Beat
"L.O.V.E. Banana" - Joo Brasil fet. Lovefoxx
"Coconut Girl" - Brother Noland
"Walking In The Rain" - Flash and The Pan
"Midnight Sun" - Isaac Delusion
