Alexander Wang Takes Over Balenciaga By Jauretsi This week, Alexander Wang will be taking the reigns of the respected fashion house started by a Basque designer in 1918. Wang will serve as the new creative director, which was freshly announced by WWD. The PPR-owned fashion house selected Wang to replace the highly acclaimed Nicolas Ghesquière (who had his final day at the house last week). Wow. The game is getting interesting. Wang has extremely enormous shoes to fill, but the young designer (almost 30 years old) has proved to manage his own fashion house with grace and aplomb. The trick will be for Wang to grow Balenciaga while nurturing his own line, too. We’re counting the days until we see Wang’s first Balenciaga collection.
