70’s Fashion

All of us agree, Amy Adams is sultry in American Hustle dripping in glamour with her authentic 70’s ensembles. The film is perfectly timed to the zeitgeist of the moment which is an homage to a decade that brought us Farrah Fawcett and Bianca Jagger. We at eBay have noticed the trend since January 2011, when “70’s fashion” searches increased 93%. Our personal favorites are the traditional wrap dress (one sold every 2 minutes on eBay) and high-waist pants.

The best part is that sellers are posting more of the same, inspired by the decadent era — low cut, silky, glittery, furry, you name it.  Check out the myriad of high-waist pants and some of Diane Von Furstenberg’s classic wrap-arounds available right now eBay.

The New Spike Jonze Movie

Add this to your possible Oscar contenders this year. Writer/director Spike Jonze pens an intimate love story between a soulful man (Joaquin Phoenix) and his new operating system — think Siri (voiced by Scarlett Johannson). The film, titled Her, is a tale of artificial intelligence and also stars Rooney Mara and Amy Adams.

That’s the good news. The bad news is we have to wait until November 20th to see it in theaters. While you wait, catch up on some past Spike movies found on eBay

Red Carpet Roundup

It was a battle between old Hollywood glamour and futuristic fashion at the Oscars last night, with the likes of Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence preferring traditionally feminine numbers by Oscar de la Renta and Dior Haute Couture, respectively. But we were really adoring the sleek, narrow column trend happening, with stars like Jessica Chastain in a gold beaded gown by Giorgio Armani (perhaps the evening’s best) and Halle Berry making up for her previous Golden Globes misstep by wearing an absolutely killer body-con gown by Versace.
