Cindy Sherman Tea Set Anyone?
Counting the days to Art Basel 2012 next week, we’re tickled pink by viewing some additional art from the genres greatest minds, namely Cindy Sherman. The website Artware Editions launched in 2006 with a commitment to feature functional objects by visual artists. Artware’s philosophy is that “artists ask questions and designers resolve them”. The website (along with a brick-and-mortar space in downtown New York) works directly with established and emerging international artists to create an exclusive line of editions. Currently, there is a tea set by the beloved Cindy Sherman entitled Madame de Pompadour (née Poisson), a piece conceived in 1990. The 21-piece porcelain Tea Service includes… [MORE] 1 teapot, 1 sugar bowl, 1 creamer, 6 cups, 6 saucers, and 6 dessert plates. There is an edition of 75, with four available color options. Price is $7,000, which may appear steep, but hey, this is high art… and a worthy investment. Other design products from Artware Editions include Jeff Koons, Sol Lewitt, and Man Ray. Artware participates regularly in art fairs like The Armory Show, NYC. Next week at Art Basel 2012, Artware will be featuring works at their usual PULSE fair in Miami.
