eBay Holiday Capsule Collection Designers: Billy Reid
Meet Billy Reid, the winner of this years CFDA award for “Menswear Designer of the Year”. His Fall 2012 collection is every bit of a step up and step forward showing his evolution is nonstop. We’re thrilled to introduce our second designer in a series of seven greats who have created unique items to be sold exclusively on eBay this November 12, 2002. Billy is a simple man with a love for vintage and family. Here’s a few more things he shared with us…
Jauretsi: If you had to describe a day in the life of your customer, how would they spend the day ideally?
Billy Reid: Not sure I can speak for anyone else on their ideal day, but for me, I would spend it… [MORE] at the beach, at the lake, or in the woods with my family. I’m not sure if our customer’s ideal day is spent shopping, but that’s alright for sure if it is.
Q: When did you first realize you wanted to become a designer?
The first time I saw one of my ideas come to life, I knew I liked that process and feeling.
Q: Do you have a specific “aha find” on eBay? What was the item?
Vintage Levi’s 517 Jeans, I love! They were so hard to find in vintage shops I would visit. Then, I discovered several on eBay and bought several pairs. I probably do this once a year and replenish my stock.
Q: What are your top 3 fave holiday movies?
Miracle of 34th St, A Christmas Story, and Christmas Vacation.
Q: In terms of online searches, what do you recommend is the most savvy thing or genre to search for on eBay?
I love searching vintage designer accessories, as some really interesting things are available. Favorite search is most likely bags.
Q: What is your favorite thing about 2012 so far?
Q: What is your “go to” get away spot for the holidays? What essential items do you pack in your bags on that escape end of year?
My escape for the holidays is outside of town deep in the woods, football, cooking and downtime with family. So my bags are packed with hunting jackets and waterproof boots for all, and cooking supplies.
