Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s Massive Polaroid Collection
By Jauretsi
For all art enthusiasts, last week was the first time Philip-Lorca diCorcia’s Polaroid collection was featured in Europe. The exhibit was held at the prestigious Art Basel 2012 in Switzerland, the world’s premier international art show for Modern and contemporary works. The collection was first presented in New York in 2009 at David Zwirner gallery. The New York Times described the effect as “magical and mundane”. Philip-Lorca was in attendance at Art Basel to receive an award before this collection tours to China next.

The show, entitled Thousand, consists of 1,000 Polaroids taken by diCorcia over the course of almost twenty-five years. If you don’t have any Philip-Lorca’s past Monographs, Books, or Catalogs on your coffee table, I suggest you snag one today on eBay. If you want to take a crack at shooting Polaroids yourself, eBay has a plethora of Polaroid cameras available to begin your own exhibition.
